We study how genetic variation and environmental exposures shape the development of asthma and allergic diseases, and the epigenetic and transcriptional mechanisms that mediate these effects. Using cells and tissues relevant to asthma and allergy, we leverage birth cohorts, cross sectional and longitudinal studies, and founder populations to identify genetic variants, characterize gene–environment interactions, and uncover the molecular basis of disease risk. These studies are integrated with functional genomics approaches through the UChicago Asthma Genomics Center.
